Medical Precertification - Details and Requirements

Some non-basic procedures and treatments (including, but not limited to MRI/CT scans and surgeries) will require advance approval from Aetna in order to be covered under our Medical Plan. Physicians should contact Aetna at the "PROVIDERS CALL/PRECERT" number listed on the back of your Aetna insurance card to receive precertification approval before scheduling the procedure/treatment.

Please note the precertification number has changed for the 2026 plan year. The new number is 1-888-632-3862. Precertifications for medical procedures/services are no longer managed by the Aetna nurse advocates.
