Social Connections

Humans are hard wired for social interaction.  However, when a person experiences trama, a natural response could be to retreat into isolation.  The key to healing and building resilience is connection with others who can validate, empathize, and understand our feelings and experiences.  People you can rely on without fear of judgement anytime are known as your 4am friends.  These are people you can call at anytime who would be there to support you and let you know that you are not alone.  Take a look at this worksheet, who are your 4am friends?

Defining Your Purpose

Your purpose or your "why" is the foundation of your resilience building and your commitment to improving yourself daily.  Take a look this worksheet and think about your life commitments, then think about why you really need to do them.  When you list what you need to do sometimes our thoughts could go in a negative direction.  Try to use some of what we learned about positive thought awareness to rewrite any of those negative thought distortions.  For example, one of my life commitments is that I wake up at 4:50am every day, my "why" is because I get to work out and focus on my needs for the start of my day.
